PIANO ASSISTANCE FOR ESTATES
Frequently Asked Questions
I don't know anything about the piano. Can you still help?
Yes. You do not need to know the piano's model, age, value or history before contacting us. Photographs and basic information about where the piano is located are often enough to begin. We can help identify the instrument and determine what additional information may be useful.
Can Washington Pianos help determine what an estate piano may be worth?
Yes. A piano's value can depend on its manufacturer, model, age, condition, maintenance history and current market demand. Washington Pianos can help evaluate these factors and, when appropriate, discuss appraisal or other documentation needs.
Do you work with attorneys and personal representatives?
Yes. We can work with the individual designated to handle the estate, including personal representatives, executors, attorneys and other estate professionals. Our role is to provide piano-specific information, communicate clearly with the appropriate representative and help resolve the practical needs involving the instrument.
Does Washington Pianos purchase pianos from estates?
We consider select pianos for direct purchase based on the instrument, condition and current inventory needs. If direct purchase is not the appropriate option, we may be able to discuss consignment or another practical path forward.
Can you arrange removal or moving of the piano?
Yes. Professional piano moving is an important part of our work. We can help coordinate appropriate piano moving, pickup or delivery when an instrument needs to leave a residence or be transported to another location.
What information should I send you first?
Start with several photographs of the piano, including the full instrument, keyboard and manufacturer's name. If a model or serial number is easily visible, include that as well. Please also tell us where the piano is located and anything you know about its history or condition. If you do not have all of this information, contact us anyway—we can help you determine what is needed.
What if the estate has a deadline for clearing the residence?
Let us know about the timeline when you contact us. Estate situations can involve property sales, possession dates and other deadlines. Understanding the timing early helps us determine what options may be practical and how piano moving or other logistics may need to be coordinated.
Where does Washington Pianos provide estate piano assistance?
Washington Pianos is located in Auburn, Washington, and regularly serves clients throughout King and Pierce Counties and the greater Puget Sound region. For pianos located outside our regular service area, contact us with the location and circumstances so we can determine how we may be able to assist.
You don't need to have all the answers before contacting us. Helping you understand the piano is part of what we do.
