Long before Washington Pianos existed, there was a simple act of kindness that shaped the way I would eventually view people, business, and service.

As a young woman, I watched my father help a single mother who was struggling.

He didn't simply buy her a winter coat.

He took her shopping and invited her to choose the one she wanted herself.

It wasn't really about the coat.

It was about dignity.

He reminded her that she mattered.

That simple act stayed with me throughout my life. It influenced my years as a counselor, shaped the way Sam and I serve our customers today, and became one of the foundations of Washington Pianos.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness become the greatest lessons.
