Smooth Seas Do Not Make Skillful Sailors | Cherie & Sam

Yesterday was one of those days that tested both my patience and my perspective.

For hours, I wrestled with problems that refused to make sense. Every answer seemed to uncover another question, and more than once I wondered if I was making any progress at all.

As I drove home, I kept thinking about a simple quote:

"Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors."

I smiled because I realized that isn't just about sailing.

It's about marriage.

It's about business.

It's about purpose.

And it's about building a life together.

Sam and I have discovered that the meaningful things in life are rarely built on easy days.

Businesses aren't.

Relationships aren't.

Character certainly isn't.

Yesterday didn't feel like a victory.

Today, I realize it was.

Not because everything was finished.

But because I understand more than I did yesterday.

Sometimes progress isn't measured by what we complete.

Sometimes it's measured by the person we're becoming while we continue the journey.

We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

Sometimes the greatest encouragement comes from realizing we're all learning to navigate life's waters together.
