Finding Common Ground
Different strengths. Shared vision. One journey.
There comes a point in life when you realize that building something meaningful isn't about finding someone exactly like you.
It's about finding someone who shares your deepest values, even if they see the world through a different lens.
Sam and I are very different people.
We think differently.
We solve problems differently.
We each have strengths the other doesn't possess.
Sometimes we even approach the very same situation from opposite directions.
Years ago, I wondered if those differences might become obstacles.
Today, I see them as gifts.
They have taught us to listen more carefully, appreciate different perspectives, and discover solutions neither of us would have found alone.
Over time we've learned that finding common ground isn't about agreeing on everything.
It's about agreeing on what matters most.
For us, that common ground is built on trust, respect, kindness, curiosity, and a desire to leave the people we meet just a little better than we found them.
Those values shape our marriage.
They shape our friendships.
They shape Washington Pianos.
And they shape the way we hope to live every day.
Building a Life, Not Just a Business
One of the conversations we've been having recently isn't actually about pianos.
It's about health.
As our vision has grown, we've realized something important.
The future we're hoping to build requires us to care for ourselves today.
If we hope to encourage others, build community, and continue serving for many years to come, then taking care of our health isn't optional.
It's part of our responsibility.
That realization has led us to make small changes.
Preparing healthier meals.
Making time for movement.
Choosing consistency over occasional bursts of effort.
Not because we're trying to be perfect.
But because we want to enjoy the journey we're on.
A Lesson We're Learning
A thought has stayed with me recently:
Consistency almost always beats intensity.
I've always been passionate.
When I believe in something, I naturally want to give it everything I have.
That passion has helped me dream, create, and build.
But I'm learning that meaningful lives aren't usually built through extraordinary moments.
They're built through ordinary faithfulness.
One thoughtful conversation.
One healthy meal.
One encouraging word.
One walk together.
One act of kindness.
Repeated over time.
Those small choices quietly shape the people we become.
We Haven't Arrived
One of the reasons we wanted to begin sharing these reflections is because we haven't figured life out.
We're still learning.
Still adjusting.
Still growing.
Still discovering what it means to build a meaningful life together.
Maybe that's why this blog feels important to us.
Not because we have all the answers.
But because perhaps someone else is asking some of the same questions.
If that's you...
Welcome.
We're glad you're here.
Walk With Us
Life isn't about having all the answers.
It's about continuing to learn.
Thank you for walking this part of the journey with us.
