A Birthday Reflection: Grateful for the Journey Ahead
Every birthday gives us an opportunity to pause for a moment and reflect.
As I celebrate another year today, I find myself thinking less about milestones and more about gratitude.
I'm grateful for my family, for friendships that have grown stronger over the years, and for Sam, whose partnership continues to teach me something new almost every day.
I'm grateful for every customer who has trusted us, every teacher who has welcomed us into their studio, every church and organization that has invited us into their community, and every conversation that has reminded us that people matter far more than transactions.
This past year has also brought clarity.
I've realized that Washington Pianos is becoming about much more than pianos.
Music is the vehicle, but people have always been the destination.
As we look toward the year ahead, I'm excited about continuing to build relationships throughout our communities, expanding opportunities to serve, and planning for a future location that will allow us to better support the people we work with across the region.
One vision that is especially close to my heart is our growing CARE Initiative.
CARE is our reminder that every community becomes stronger when ordinary people choose kindness, one small act at a time.
Sometimes that kindness may be helping a musician.
Sometimes encouraging a teacher.
Sometimes supporting a family.
Sometimes helping a veteran.
Sometimes lending a hand to a neighbor.
Sometimes simply taking time to truly listen.
None of us can solve every problem.
But every one of us can brighten someone else's day.
So today, on my birthday, I'd like to ask for just one gift.
If this post reaches you, consider doing one small act of kindness for someone today.
A phone call.
A handwritten note.
A word of encouragement.
Helping a neighbor.
Buying someone a cup of coffee.
Checking in on someone who may be having a difficult day.
You never know how much that simple gesture may mean.
If that idea resonates with you, I'd love for you to become part of our growing CARE Community as we continue finding meaningful ways to encourage, support, and strengthen the communities we call home.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
Here's to another year of learning, growing, serving, and making a difference—together.
With gratitude,
Cherie
