The Yamaha U3 52″ Upright Acoustic Piano features a Spruce Sound Board, Ribs and Back Post. The Full Size Ribs are notched into the liner of the piano to give proper resonance.

The U3 Yamaha Upright Grand as some call it features a 2369 square inch sound board With a Hard Maple Bridge transferring the string energy to the soundboard.

Redesigned Hammers
U Series hammers use materials specifically selected for each model to provide optimum tone production, response and long-term durability.

he Yamaha U3 Hammer is an under felted hammer. Featuring 2 different types of felt at two different levels of compression. This under felt helps maintains the piano tone as the hammer ages. It is generally seen in higher end pianos above 45 inches tall.

The Hammer weight is set to 22 pounds for the Yamaha U3 52″ upright piano . The hammer core and the hammer shank are made of Spruce due to it’s strength.

Piano hammers range in size depending on the scale of the harp or plate. The hammer is the largest at the bottom most note and the smallest at the top note. This is because the larger bass strings need a bigger force to get the string to resonate. Yamaha Piano Engineer’s select each hammer design to complement the pianos Scale and intended use.

A damping mechanism, formerly used only in grand pianos, prevents the fallboard from dropping abruptly onto the keyboard, guarding against accidental injury or damage.

Soft-Close Fallboard
Designed right into the sides of the piano fallboard offering a discrete dampening mechanism that is pleasing to the eye.

Yamaha U3 Professional Upright Piano Action
Featuring a large key shank, a raised Capstan and a larger Whippen the Yamaha U3 is one of the most responsive upright pianos on the market. This allows the piano player greater control over the volume dynamics when playing.

The Yamaha U3 Piano Dimensions is the deepest of the upright line to make space for the expanded internal key shank. The Yamaha U3 Piano Price is worth it alone for the elongated Capstans and Larger Whippens.
